Enjoyed a lovely few days here as a couple. Pros: The highlight of our stay was the lovely Despina who is so warm, friendly and helpful. We loved chatting with her and if you visit you must try her lovely Greek and Iced coffees, they are the best!! - well worth the €2. The food was great, plenty of options and all delicious; although I can imagine it getting slightly repetitive after more than a few days. As others have said, food is not always super hot but as the temperature is so warm we did not mind this. Drinks were also lovely, cocktails, beer and wine throughout the day. Yes they are from a tap/premixed but we had no issues with the quality. They were plenty strong enough for us, but you can always get two at a time if not! Being able to book cleaning online was helpful for us, and meant we could schedule it around our plans. Rooms were clean and spacious and the aircon was amazing, super efficient and we slept very comfortably! Showers were high pressure with lots of hot water and the balcony was gorgeous. The resort itself is beautiful and has stunning views, it really does feel like a village and is very peaceful with seemingly endless areas to sit and explore. Pools were clean and a lovely cooling (not cold!) temperature. There was no fight for sun beds - however sometimes we were unable to find sun-beds in the shade during the day. Cons: Some bar/reception staff were not as friendly as you would expect from a 5* resort, we understand everyone has off days but these interactions left us feeling quite uncomfortable which did affect the quality of our stay. Reception staff seemed at times overwhelmed and without capacity to actually help guests in the way they otherwise would. Things to consider: There are cats everywhere - we LOVE cats so this was not an issue. Most were very friendly and cuddly. For the most part if you ignore them they will ignore you, but they are around the dining areas in search of food so if you are not keen then this is something to consider! The resort is spread across hills which was fine for us, but something to consider if you have accessibility/mobility needs. Short opening times on some of the cafes/bars/pools, also no all inclusive after 11. If you want mad nights out and late entertainment this is not the place for you! A lot of things require additional charge that must be paid in cash. It’s worth getting cash before coming so you avoid airport exchange rates! —— Overall a lovely relaxing stay only affected by some slightly negative interactions with staff. Would definitely consider coming here again.
RG Village was a fantastic visit, ranging from outstanding swimming pools, friendly service and great food. The room was clean and had everything needed, and trips to the private beach and to Rethymno was very accessible due to the hotel’s shuttle bus service, with the private beach and private beach restaurant being free, and the shuttle bus to Rethymno being cheap too. We really enjoyed this trip and will definitely consider revisiting.
Lovely hotel and we went to the lower bar every night and Theo was serving us every night and his service was good and he looked out for us the whole trip
