Perfect location. Good check in experience.. But... Outside generator at the bottom of a first floor metal staircase loudly humms and sounds like a motorbike idling within the room and corridor 24 hours. Sleep with ear plugs in if not hard of hearing. Surprised management allow it. Maybe they should try one night in the rooms themselves. Room cleaning consists of adding toilet roll and removing bin contents. No bed making or mopping of floors in the room or balcony (be prepared to get black feet if not wearing slippers). Food.. Queue for a single fried egg? Really vey odd, as is the selection. Duck inedible as almost raw. Cold cauliflower? Empty trays and soup containers in abundance. Eat what is available. Plates chipped and dirty as is the cutlary. Picked up 4 knives one after the other with remains of food on them (does no one check and remove from service. No apparently) Complacent running at the moment. Hotel should do a lot better in a nice location.
Mixed experience at Royal Star with more bad than good unfortunately. Location is ok for a family just outside the main night club strip, but interior of hotel is quiet dated. Aqua blue interior has a feel of 80s about it though reception is large and cool on warm Catalan day - more to come on that issue! Hotel seems to have been developed in phases and we had a lengthy walk to our hotel room after check in, and room was very small with limited space for family other than the beds! Food was good and plenty of choice and decent range. Pool space and loungers were limited especially around the pool with the bar but smaller pool opposite tended to be quieter. Queues for drinks on all inclusive tended to be lengthy at most times also with 6+ people the norm. Main issue was lack of air con in rooms in the 30+ degreeheat of August, exacerbated by frequent responses from reception that an engineer would call to the room to fix it, despite the room only having vents and therefore it was a system not a local issue. We complained on first day and then assured that engineer would be out next morning to fix. We had repeated interactions with reception over 2 days with several people looking at a debt and wondering why it didn't have cool air! We were then told that this was a cooler fault and over 100 rooms were affected but we were really annoyed about lack of sleep in conditions and our time being wasted by people looking into air vent when it was clearly a system issue. We were relocated to a nearby sister hotel after we emailed htop and complained about a dozen times and we lost first 2 days of holiday but content with outcome. My advice is to not accept and email complaint to htop if unacceptable
I read reviews and was worried about my stay… absolutely not like the reviews, it is a little outdated food is repetitive but it’s been a lovely stay, rooms are always clean, lots of choice of food something for everyone.. don’t know why the said loss of young teenagers u get off few but nothing over top.. enjoyed our week there and certainly wouldn’t say never again.. you pay for what u get £700 all inclusive for a week well worth it :)
