We read a few reviews before we came and were a little apprehensive but they could not have been more wrong and taken out of context. To name a few of the workers at this hotel whom made our trip so special - Hem Rag and Bishesh. Their efforts and hard work is above and beyond. Kushal and Mary-Grace plus Sandin too, all work incredibly hard and are fantastic with guests. The whole entire waiting staff, kitchen and dining team work so incredibly hard and really strive to make your stay at the Solana exceptional. We had breakfast and dinner included which were really amazing - above what hotel full/half board experiences normally are. The chefs are fantastic. Every night menu follows a theme which is always extensive and caters to everyone’s dietary requirements. There’s also music and decorations every evening to match the theme. - more above and beyond effort that didn’t go unnoticed. We didn’t take much to do with reception team but they are fine - pleasant and helpful enough with a welcoming attitude. The beds aren’t great - a hard mattress if you’re into that but the rooms are lovely. Well cleaned and your items respected by cleaners. The team on top deck, especially Hem Rag keep the pool area exceptionally clean and so enjoyable; chilling all day by the pool with hard working and fun waiting staff. This hotel is really stunning, very comfortable and 5 star, but the staff is what made our stay really incredible. Thank you to you all, your hard work did not go unnoticed.
The location is perfect as it is close to Mellieħa bay with easy access to public transport as well boat tours to the 3 islands. It is very easy to explore touristic sites around the country just by getting on a bus that is a 3 minute walk away from the hotel. The neighbourhood is quiet and offers many restaurants with affordable and delicious meals. Our room was spacious and clean. We were quite surprised by the huge size of our bathroom. The cleaning staff is very friendly and snuck in even late in the afternoon to straighten and clean our room. The staff is very attentive, friendly and welcoming. Always ready to assist with a smile and did accommodate our numerous requests. A special shout out to Dawa who checked us in and continued to checked on us throughout our stay. He made our experience of Malta that much more memorable. We very much hope to return again for there are still many bays and beaches we would like to visit.
We are nearing the end of a fantastic stay at the Solana Hotel and Spa. All the staff have been great, but I want to give special mention to our room attendant, Diwa, who has gone above and beyond to ensure we have everything we need. When she has been unable to actually clean our rooms (due to oversleeping teenagers), she has always checked if we needed fresh towels, tea/coffee, and clean mugs and drinking glasses. And when she has cleaned them, she has been discreet, respectful and left the room in impeccable condition. To top it all, she has been leaving the most delightful ‘origami’ animals – made from fresh towels – on the bed especially for my daughter, who thinks they are so great, she can’t bring herself to use them! Thanks, Diwa, for making our stay even more special. And!! When I lost my sunglasses in the hotel lobby, it was Diwa that found them! What a superstar.
