food is terrible, not much of an option looks undercooked, drink options are minimal beds are like sleeping on the rock the only positive is the pool. nothing around other than a few shops and cafes which aren’t bad but it becomes very repetitive and boring in the night if you have no car. the port is okay…. but the bars are basic and have to feed off your own entertainment due to the lack of music and entertainment provided within.
JUST DON’T … We had to climb a very very steep hill, then 100 steps in 30 degrees just to get to our room, we then had to walk on the road through traffic for 10 minutes to get to those two pools. There are multiply sites sold under the one heading - so you have no idea where they will put you. We were no 48 … whereas 1001 was near the pool we were at least 20 walk/climb minutes away. I am 64 with asthma and two hip replacements and my granddaughter age 5 had to be carried. Any help taking our bags up the stairs on arrival - NO WAY! SO BAD … if we went there for breakfast we had to stay out all day. Where the food was served was so crowded you queued for food before it ran out. Example, one day they had ice cream - self serve with one tub, one scoop - they had 1,000 rooms and lunch is served over 1.5 hr period. No chance to find a table to eat the food and no chance to grab a lounger by the pool or at the beach. Too many people crammed in! In our building there was another pool with a drinks bar open for a few hours a day - red wine and orange juice from a machine was their cocktail! A few rolls wrapped in cling film sitting in an open fridge - snacks?? When we booked we didn’t realise that the bus from the airport took 3.5 hours due to all the drop offs!! Flying from Glasgow after 4.5 hours - so luckily we paid for a hire car - which we needed to get up the hill. No parking in the town so we need to drive off to another area most days. Staff were young boys doing their best. Guests were treated like cattle, up/down stairs trying to find somewhere to sit, pushing past before the food ran out. Breakfast finished at 10am lunch started at 7pm. We had to eat out most days, this very shabby venue with people queuing to complain about everything when we arrived - in the end cost us a lot of money. Luckily Crete is lovely as are the people and we escaped to nicer places on the island.
