Visited the Elounda Residence hotel in Crete, Greece. We went for 10 days 22nd July to 1st August 2026. We had a great time. The hotel staff were brilliant, they would always listen and if we had any issues they were very quickly sorted out / resolved. It should be noted that the hotel has a mixture of standard rooms / apartments, premium rooms / apartments and even higher star rated rooms / apartments. In my opinion the standard rooms need some attention and are more of a 3 star rated / old self catering style which our room (room 1) had a cooker smoke hood, a kitchen sink and the beds are in need of new mattresses. Upgrades were offered at an extra cost but after spending 7k on a package holiday for a family of 4, we were not prepared to pay anymore. So all I would say here is be aware when booking making note of the type of room / apartment. It also should be noted that the swimming pools in the whole of Crete, especially in the East of the island, they are salting and don't use chlorine. So if you don't mind the salt then fine but we felt it spoilt the full fun for the kids complaining of their eyes. It must be said that overall, the hotel, the hotel staff, the food, the drink was great.
