Do not be fooled by the central location—this property has gone drastically downhill under its current management and is easily one of the worst hotel experiences in central London. The location is the only positive thing about this property; everything else is an absolute nightmare. The rooms are cramped, dark, poorly maintained, and stripped of basic comforts. Worse still is the complete lack of safety and security throughout the building—guest floors are wide open to the public with zero access control. Management clearly does not care about guest safety, comfort, or service quality. Zero hospitality, zero security, and terrible value for money. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else.

I deeply regret not reading the reviews before booking. Calling this establishment a hotel is a stretch; it operates like a bare-bones hostel that tries to monetize every minor detail. The room provided only the bare minimum: no phone, no tea or coffee facilities, and not a single towel upon arrival. Having to walk down to reception to retrieve basic linens myself made for an absurd guest experience. Most alarming as others have said is the severe lack of security. The lifts and guest floors have zero keycard protection, leaving the entire property wide open to anyone walking off the street. It feels like a serious incident waiting to happen. I strongly advise travelers to avoid this hotel due to significant safety, security, and service failures.

To say I am disappointed is an understatement ! After using the st Giles hotel for 20 years (every year) and always having a wonderful stay here this time I was left shocked and saddened to see what it has become since changing hands. Firstly we went to the concierge to take our bags as the room was not yet ready.. to see the usual 2 lovely gentlemen and the desk gone!! We have always left our bags with no extra cost (but we did always tip the gentlemen) as they were so welcoming ... this tike however we were told it would be £10 per bag to hold! So thats an extra £40 for 2 bags for the 2 days we needed to store. We were told that to get the room (even if ready before 30pm) it would be an extra £40!!! We proceeded to check in to see all the desks and humans gone and replaced with screens that we had never used before. There was one man at a desk on his mobile, bearing in mind we hadn't used these before he really was not interested! Moving on after checking in ourselfs we headed to the room, in the wardrobe was 2 bags of half eaten pork scratchings, the rooms were dusty and mould in the bathroom ! They also took away the tea and coffee set up. To say we are shocked at the decline of this once lovely and welcoming hotel is an understatement. We have cancelled our December booking and after years of recommending this hotel to many many people we will not do so further. Such a sad shame it really was a fantastic hotel until this year.
