A very pleasant stay at the Higueron Hotel. Great facilities, hotel accommodation, food and facilities. A few minor issues encountered. Firstly - the need to pay €75 to use a sunbed on the rooftop pool. I was only needing to be there for an hour, the staff show zero understanding and flexibility, which I find really odd given I was also buying food and drinks. Sunbeds by the pool are policed by a lifeguard - who told me twice I couldn't sit by the pool, or enter it, because it was too busy. In reality, there were dozens of free spots, and there were two children in the pool - again, really odd behaviour from staff towards paying guests.

The only reason I am giving this hotel 4* is the restaurants and the amount/quality of the food. This was all great, especially the Mediterranean restaurant and the breakfast selection. The hotel was more remote than I was expecting and surrounded by developments. Not picturesque at all. If you like tennis or Padel this would also be good however as lots of courts. Be prepared for no privacy. The rooms are very intimate. Everything is visible and audible. I shared a double bed with my friend. Luckily I've known her for many years. My side of the bed was right next to an opaque blue shower cubicle. Everytime I turned over in bed, it was in my face. Very close and my sheets were even catching in the door! Very odd. The rooms also had lots of people hairs still around. Yuck. Wouldn't recommend overall.

The website really did not prepare you for what to expect. Staff in breakfast had no finess and quite ubrupt and banged plates and very curt. Saying that other staff in reception and bar were great. Breakfast was good. Although coffee machines were temperamental. As a hotel guest the rules on which swimming pool and charges for beds was not clear and being busy at conference and then wanting a quick swim became a problem as allowed here but not here. Room key did not always work so this was a problem. it got it eventually mended and to that did not work. Beach was down very steep hill so not practical by foot in heat and land tain took ages and be careful to look at timetable as not as frequent as you imagine. Not sure after my experience I would return unless a conference. A shame as really nice design.
