Location is great. Close to the beach and restaurants. I travelled with my sister. We had separate rooms. We were placed across the street feim the main building. I had room 4401. It was incredibly small. The bathroom was tiny. The bath tub was the size of a big sink. I had a single bed. It reminded me of a hotel in Turkey that I stayed in 25 years ago. I would not call this set up a 4 star hotel. The decor was giving 1970s vibes. That being said, it was clean and good value for money. We requested extra pillows and Carmelo was incredibly helpful in providing these. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, Carmelo was friendly and helpful throughout. His service should be the go to standard for every employee there and beyond. The girl on reception who told my sister to go back to the room and call on the phone to request extra pillows should absolutely learn how treat paying guests in a better manner. Being a huge baked bean addict, I was disappointed that they only made one appearance at breakfast during our 4 night stay.
We wanted to extend our vacation on the Costa Brava a little and chose this hotel because it had good ratings on Booking. After our stay there, I am convinced that either the ratings are fake or people have very low expectations. The best part, the location and the air conditioning. The worst part, everything else. Tiny triple room, though it did have a terrace. But to be able to access it you have to go around the beds walking sideways; there was no room to leave the suitcases or the footwear. The cleanliness was just okay; we had to ask for a clean sheet because the one on one of the beds was full of stains. In the bathroom, there is no shower gel or towel rack for the hand towel. Only one hook for a bath towel, and what about the other two? (oh, the mystery). There is a safe, but you have to pay for the key separately to use it. Mind you, they do not take responsibility for the disappearance of items from the rooms. Given that there is no one at reception because they are only in the other building, that the rooms are left open during "cleaning" (with easy access to them), and that the hotel does not take responsibility for lost items from the rooms, we requested that they not come in to clean the room during our stay. The hotel is divided into two buildings, one across from the other. Now I understand the 4-star rating; in reality, it is 2 per building, it does not deserve more.
My experience was terrible. 4-star hotel that, in my opinion, is 3 stars too many. You ask for bar service at the table and there is none. Room with three beds mandatory. Very narrow and small room. I complained at the front desk to have one bed removed (there were three 90cm beds and there were two of us) and they answered that it could not be removed due to company policy. The small, rectangular windows (15) are some at sidewalk level and some tilted, so when there is wind, insects, pedestrian traffic, or cars with engines running, all that dust or pollution can enter the restaurant onto the food displayed buffet-style or onto the tables and plates of the diners sitting under the windows. The breakfasts were hopeless, and I am not referring to that "rush hour" of customer influx: Only one bread toaster. Three coffee machine stations at breakfast where I counted up to 10 people (day in and day out) waiting for their turn. The food was served sparingly, very controlled. To give you a fact. The bananas they served in the dessert area were already brought out cut into four pieces. The parking lot is far from the hotel, in a closed-off vacant lot. I repeat: a 4-star hotel that, to me, has 3 stars too many. Thinking that because it participates in the Imserso social program it should provide a different quality of service, replenishment of goods at the buffet, cleaning... is a huge mistake. Along with us, other foreign or domestic guests who had purchased their stay according to the market rates of the moment were there, and everything I state here affected them as well. I spoke with a few guests, and the cramped room also affected them, and they were not allowed to change it.
