Hotel Abora Catarina by Lopesan Hotels (prej IFA Catarina) stoji v osrednjem delu Playe del Inglés na jugu Gran Canarie, nekaj minut hoje od sipin Maspalomas. Ima 410 sob, pet bazenov in lasten vodni park s tobogani, deluje pa po sistemu all inclusive. Hotel je namenjen predvsem družinam z otroki, a ima tudi sobe in sončno teraso samo za odrasle.
Sobe in nastanitev
Vse sobe merijo 25,5 m², razlikujejo se po zunanjem prostoru. Standardne sobe imajo balkon, sobe garden teraso na vrtu, sobe solarium lastno sončno teraso, sobe superior pa veliko teraso z zasebnim jacuzzijem. Sobe family pool imajo neposreden dostop do bazena, sobe deluxe pool in deluxe view pa so rezervirane za goste, starejše od 18 let. V večino sob se lahko namestijo do trije odrasli.
Opremljene so s klimatsko napravo, 43-palčnim satelitskim televizorjem, telefonom, sefom in grelnikom vode, Wi-Fi je brezplačen. V kopalnicah je tropska prha.
Objekti in storitve
Hotel ponuja all inclusive in razširjeno različico premium all inclusive. Bufetna restavracija sABOReA streže zajtrk, kosilo in večerjo, pet večerov na teden pa ima tematsko ponudbo. Za prigrizke sta tu še Snack and Go in samopostrežni snack bar, ki je odprt 24 ur na dan. Pijače strežejo v baru Abora, na terasi pri preddverju in v dveh barih ob bazenu.
Glavni bazen pozimi ogrevajo. Vodni park Abora WaterPark ima tobogane, slapove in vodna igrala, za dojenčke in malčke pa je ločen del Splash Baby Park. Otroke čakajo mini klub Aboritos Club, otroški bufet in mini disko. Na strehi je naturistična sončna terasa samo za odrasle. Animatorji skrbijo za program aktivnosti. Na voljo sta še fitnes in lepotni salon (plačljiv).
Lokacija in posebnosti
Hotel je na naslovu Avenida de Tirajana 1. Do sipin je okoli 600 m, do nakupovalnega središča Yumbo 1,1 km, do plaže Playa del Inglés pa približno 1,4 km, kamor se lahko brezplačno odpeljete s hotelskim avtobusom. Mednarodno letališče Gran Canaria je oddaljeno 28 km. Hišni ljubljenčki niso dovoljeni. Abora Catarina by Lopesan Hotels je dobra izbira za družine, ki želijo imeti vse na enem mestu.
Zabavno dejstvo
Akvarij Poema del Mar v Las Palmasu, okoli 55 km od hotela, so odprli decembra 2017 in v njem je predstavljenih več kot 350 vrst. Razdeljen je na tri dele: džunglo, koralni greben in globoko morje. V delu z globokim morjem je 36 metrov dolgo in 7 metrov visoko ukrivljeno steklo, težko 140 ton, ki velja za največje te vrste na svetu.

The music by the pool is extremely loud, making it impossible to swim in a relaxed way. When you ask the entertainment team if they could turn it down a bit, are you treated in an unfriendly manner.
I’m here as I write this review, so we’re do I start, lets get the positives out the way, entertainment team are really good and work very hard to please all guests, first class thank you for your great shows, rooms are big but a bit dated, no issues with sun beds, reception and hotel staff are very nice and welcoming, now for the negatives, please read this review because I’m being very very honest regarding all negative points, food is blend cold no good choice put in microwave turn to setting 3, this has to be the worse food ever I’ve experienced honestly it’s not good, we went to the rep who confirmed that he tried the food and it was cold, if coming the microwave is at the back honestly you will need it, they had just put out lasagna I went great something hot how I was disappointed because it was still cold and tasteless, there is no great salad or dessert stations, it’s the poorest I’ve ever seen for a 4 star hotel, the dessert station consist of couple of a couple of cakes ice cream and fruit, more focus on cut fruit, now for the snacks left over breakfast items when it opens then some kind of burger with some sort of cheese or hot dogs but remove the hot because like the restaurant everything is stone cold. The alcohol is self service for beer wine juice tea and coffee, the 24 hrs al-inclusive consists of hard dry sandwiches some kind of shortbread biscuits and poor looking fruit. I also know the maid cleaning service was very poor left a bag of rubbish I’d put on the table to taken which was left, also I believed the floor wasn’t being cleaned so I left a couple items placed on the floor in different areas which was never picked up ie paper bottle lid placed items in the middle of the shower tray same place after cleaning, bed was accidentally stained with sun oil we came back and thought bed was changed to our astonishment we noticed they had just turn the cover round, this is definitely not any were near a 4 star hotel, I stayed at the sister hotel Abora Buenaventura last year and that was better I believe it’s because this hotel has swim up rooms they have made it a 4 star hotel because it’s certainly not the food in fact not once have I seen it being probed, or checked there are only 3 items per food station ie fish meat veg and pasta only 3 items each and honestly not good, one small dessert and salad station also, seriously look elsewhere if you’re thinking about here, do not waste your good hard earned money, we paid nearly 3 thousand pounds for two weeks and spent nearly one thousand pounds eating out look elsewhere honestly
