Me and my husband recently stayed at Jardin des Sol for 6 nights for a ‘baby moon’. I am 27 weeks pregnant and we were looking for for a relaxing holiday by a pool. That’s exactly what we got, and we were made to feel very special. The staff can’t do enough for you, with a special mention to Phillip (the king) for not one but two very thoughtful touches and Anyas (waitress at the pool bar) who probably got about 20,000 steps every day delivering drinks around the pool. Our suite was excellent, a beautiful view and everything you’d want in your room. The app was very helpful, telling you when your room had been cleaned! The cleaning team clearly did a thorough job too. The breakfast lunch and dinner buffet was fabulous. So much choice for each meal with a stunning view overlooking the sea. Food was always really tasty. I particularly loved how the ice cream flavours changed regularly too. Drink choices by the pool were also excellent. Me and my husband have been on our fair share of all inclusive holidays and sometimes the drinks can be a bit naff elsewhere. Here they have a really nice selection of cocktails, and for me who wasnt drinking, there was even more of an array of mocktails / other fruit blends that I could chose from every day which were all lovely. The pool was lovely - I often really struggle to get in a pool when going abroad because they’re always a bit too cold but both the outdoor and indoor pool were a great temperature to get into to cool off. The pool staff also provide noodles to float around on. There are also always plenty of sunbeds to choose from and some lovely cushy doubles in the shade (which we took advantage of most days!) We also treated ourselves to a spa treatment each. My husband had a deep tissue massage and I had a pregnancy massage. Both treatments were wonderful and we left feeling really relaxed. A wonderful relaxing stay!

Very clean hotel, ema and Dylan I cannot recommend enough their hospitality and entertainment goes above and beyond customer service. Also a shout out to duke our kayak tour guide. A massive shout out to Diageo the bar tender with Dylan. Remembering our orders and always smiling and having the drinks ready before getting through the door.

Beautiful setting, but Prestige didn’t feel worth the extra cost We booked this hotel for a romantic couples’ break and paid extra for a Prestige room, expecting a more premium experience. Unfortunately, while there were some definite positives, overall we found the experience underwhelming, particularly considering the additional cost of Prestige. The positives: the scenery is absolutely stunning, with beautiful views across the sea and bay. The food was fresh, local and delicious, and we really appreciated the hotel’s efforts around sustainability — these are definitely to be applauded. Unfortunately, there were quite a few negatives. The hotel had almost no atmosphere. There was no music around the pool, which might sound like a small thing, but it meant that when large groups, including hen parties, were staying, their conversations and noise became very intrusive. There was also no daytime entertainment, and the evening entertainment was limited to singers who, while pleasant enough, were fairly mediocre and only performed for around an hour. We were particularly disappointed with the Prestige facilities. The Prestige pool areas were busy and felt cramped, with relatively small pools. Meanwhile, looking down towards the main pool, which was much larger, there were often only a couple of people using it, with beautiful sea views and sunbeds overlooking the bay. Having experienced both, I genuinely couldn’t see what advantage we had gained by paying extra for Prestige. In fact, if we returned, I would choose the main pool and would not pay the Prestige supplement. For a supposedly premium experience, we also expected better service. There was no luggage service to take your bags to and from your room, which we would have expected when paying for Prestige. Our room also had several issues. There was no light in the shower and no natural light or ventilation, meaning you were effectively showering in the dark. The whirlpool bath didn’t work and had clearly seen better days. We reported this to the hotel but heard nothing back. We also reported an issue with ants in the room and again received no response. The minibar was another frustration. It was supposed to be restocked daily, but this didn’t happen on the first day. We called and were told it would be sorted and that the bar had been informed. When nothing happened, we called again and were told the same thing. It still wasn’t done. More frustratingly, the way this was handled left us feeling as though we were being made to feel like we were at fault rather than having our concern simply dealt with. The dining options were also disappointing. We had booked the Teppanyaki restaurant, but after speaking to several other guests who had already eaten there and said they didn’t feel it was worth the additional charge on top of the all-inclusive package, we cancelled our booking. This left essentially one main restaurant for the duration of our stay, which was buffet-style and offered largely the same food throughout. There was also supposed to be a snack bar available, but this wasn’t available during our stay. The walkway providing access to the sea was closed for the entire duration of our visit too, which was disappointing given the beautiful location. Overall, we couldn’t help comparing this hotel with other Iberostar and Barceló properties we’ve stayed at where we’ve also paid extra for premium/Prestige accommodation. Those experiences offered noticeably better service, facilities, atmosphere and added value. For us, the biggest disappointment was the Prestige upgrade. We genuinely struggled to identify what additional benefit we received for the extra money, and in some respects it felt as though the Prestige experience came with worse service rather than better. The location and scenery are beautiful, the food is good and the sustainability efforts are commendable. However, for a romantic couples’ break, we were hoping for something that felt special, relaxing and premium. Instead, the overall experience felt rather underwhelming. Based on our experience, I would not recommend paying extra for Prestige. I think we would have been better off staying with the standard facilities and saving the money.
