Ocenjeno z wanderlust_foxxReally nice food variety! Great Resort as a Base to explore southern side of Gran Canaria, Maspalomas and the mountains
Been jotting notes down because I truly feel this resort exceeded expectations. When researching properties I saw quite some mixed reviews on Servatur Playa Bonita but my experience here has been good. Overall it's a hotel that's really functional - even tho it looks pretty basic and isn't fancy, good value for what you pay for, comfortable with a relaxed atmosphere, and with outstanding food.
I stayed for a solo 5 night stay most recently for a dive-learning trip and here are my observations:
- Hotel is flat, no steps and with lifts for the individual four buildings, very easy to navigate if you have large luggage or have mobility issues
- Good access 3-5 mins walk to bus stops that bring you towards beach/dune side and center area with more restaurants, and multiple supermarkets an easy 5-7 mins walk away.
- Hotel is well-staffed (in June - start of season), dishes are replaced quickly, staff cleans and vacuums the restaurant quickly after each meal hour ends.
- Public areas are clean and spotless, including common areas toilets
- Staff is friendly and helpful, and not overly zealous / enthusiastic, so you can very much be left to your own without feeling watched
- Pool-facing double rooms are really spacious, completely functional, no drain issues / air-con issues, shower and hot water runs consistently, working fridge and will comes with a small balcony. The only thing that didn't work is the safe but I can do without. This sounds basic but even alot of 5* hotels aren't actually able to have this all.
- Guests are a mix of adults of different ages mostly, not just older couples but also younger friend grps, but overall people are quiet quite quiet and tame - no crazy night club evenings or ppl screaming / partying, very chill. I find it quite peaceful wherever I go
- The main restaurant station feels casual and intimate enough and the dinner buffet is really a highlight! You won't get side-eyed for getting any amount of food. They have thematic nights where most of the buffet changes daily. Very good variety and very functional buffet stations, esp hot foods that refills quickly. There's always some Spanish delicacies like paella, croquettes, and the gezpacho soup with lots of different toppings you can tailor to your own. There's a pizza section, pasta / special dish section with some stir-fried dishes and one special roast meat dish (e.g. roast duck, roast beef, roast pork) every night, and a barbecue section with grilled meats that changes daily. They have a lot of different grilled fish selections, and I have never seen larger cuttlefish on my life. The meat is cooked just well as well, so that it remains juicy and succulent. The salad section is extensive - some flies one day but then they dealt with it promptly it seems, and the next few days the salad bar is clear. There's also a fruit and dessert section and a soft serve machine, which actually makes milk flavoured soft-serve that holds and do not get watery too quickly, and taste rich.
- Drinks are complimentary with your board at meal times, AND it's not just soft drinks and juices, but also beer + wines, all from self-service machines. If you like your meal with a wine this free-flow is definitely value-adding. Not sure abt the quality tho as I've not tried them much
- They have a weekly complimentary programme with aqua-fitness, yoga, darts, evening theatre/musical shows etc, so there are some social activities if you'd like to do them
Wifi is ok, slightly unstable at times and can be weaker in some parts of the hotel, but otherwise fine.
The only thing I'd say for the hotel team is that the beds in your rooms are too soft and gave me lower back pain overnight - consider changing to a slightly harder mattress.
Also for foods, some suggestions to - change up juices in the self-service machines, even a bit of variety instead of just apple, orange, and pineapple every single day every single meal will be appreciated. Also on refiling sauces as well, esp during dinner, as you may not realise but guests stop taking certain meat dishes when the sauces run out even if you keep refilling the meat
Ocenjeno z shortzabaLet down 2* at best
Some Pros-
*Good choice of food
*Very central and great for market.
*Big rooms
*Very nice reception staff.
*Jacuzzi area amazing but need to be there at 10am to get a bed.
However the negatives outweigh the positives.
Some Negatives-
* It states no reserving sunbeds?? Most sunbeds were reserved by 8am. Not enough space for the amount of customers!
*Cocktails are AWFUL, overall drinks disappointing. 90% of drinks menu has to be paid for. Not the idea of all inclusive!
*Overall the waiting staff are miserable and obviously don't enjoy their jobs.
*Food is often cold or luke warm, maybe investing in proper equipment like a bain Marie to keep it hot.
*Night time entertainment AWFUL.
The BIGGEST negative- The noise, next to a duel carriageway thats always busy, the cleaners start at 5am banging and moving furniture.
We felt overall the management were non-existent.
We loved the area but next time will book the Casiar next door as far nicer.
