We were quite disappointed with our stay, especially considering this is supposed to be a 5-star hotel.
We arrived at 13:50 and were waiting for our room, knowing that check-in was at 15:00. Despite the hotel knowing we were already there, we only received the key at 15:30, which was frustrating.
The room itself was good, but the shower was broken and left a large puddle of water after use. The issue was fixed quickly, which we appreciated, but the dirty mat was left behind afterwards (we assumed it was from the repair), which was not acceptable.
The spa experience was also below expectations. The laconium, roman were basically just rooms. Some showers were not working properly, and in the steam room we even found two dead cockroaches.
The Relax Massage was another disappointment. The masseuse was breathing very loudly and sighing every time he needed to change position, which made it difficult to relax and enjoy the treatment.
Breakfast service was very average. The decaf coffee machine was not working properly and served hot chocolate instead of coffee, and the pastries were dry.
Overall, this stay did not meet the standards expected from a 5-star hotel. There were some positive points, such as the room and the quick response to the shower issue, but the overall experience fell far below expectations.
Ocenjeno z johnkZ485EBA spacious quality hotel with top staff and facilities.
From our arrival to departure we were treated like a precious commodity everywhere we went.
Hassan and Noel at our late night arrival at reception were professional, kind, humourous and most helpful.
Breakfast was a very enjoyable experience with help and laughter from Pipa and her dedicated colleagues.
Room service was very quick and great value.
The pools were comfortable with easy access for all ambulatory abilities. Even the young lady in the crèche was out assisting older and infirm guests at the poolside when quiet. The water was a perfect temperature too in mid June.
Sunbeds were plentiful, very comfortable, with easy access to the poolside bar.
The lounge bar was quite slow when busy but that was expected and tolerable. The young Brazilian and Morrocan bar men were very good on cocktails and had good banter with this old Scot about our world cup grouping.
Cleaners were excellent and did a thorough job daily on the very spacious rooms.
The Hotel overall is a bit far away from the urban buzz of Estepona but that can be remedied by taking a relatively cheap taxi; using the Aldi or local restaurants across the pedestrian bridge; or staying in and using reasonably priced hotel bar and restaurants while listening to nightly entertainment provided free in the lobby/lounge.
A highlight for me was the large TV area with a well maintained world cup chart and every game available although the sound needed turned down after 2300 hours.
The hotel has a few token shops and there are so many wee nooks and crannies to sit and relax in.
We loved it and will certainly go again.
Oh,nearly forgot, free WiFi and data coverage is good, almost everywhere, certainly in the rooms and the views out to sea are fabulous.
